Colon hygiene is nothing new, but it's popularity is gaining by having colon hydrotherapy treatments, or "colonics". For the "uninitialized", the thought of having large amounts of water flushing through the colon may not be a very comfortable one. This article will show you what to expect.
How do you clean your colon?
During a colon hydrotherapy session, copious amounts of water are used to flush the colon completely. This is done without the aid of drugs or chemicals, so the procedure is relatively safe with few side effects. The water is gently pushed into the colon via a tube in the rectum, and the water is warmed to body temperature for the patient's comfort. Reputable hydrotherapy technicians will use disposable equipment to eliminate the possibility of cross contamination from patient to patient.
What can I expect?
A colonic, as a colon cleansing treatment is also called, usually lasts for about one hour. Allow for ninety minutes, it can feel nice not having to rush after your treatment.Then your colon will be gently flushed by about 30 gallons of warm water. A small amount of water will go in, and then gets expelled, some more water will go in and the cycle continues until about 30 gallons have been used. The water gets expelled into a closed system making odors non existant. As the water is pulsing through your colon, the therapist will massage your abdomen to aid in the removal of impacted feces. This usually feels very nice and relaxing.
How often do I need to have my colon cleansed?
Depending on your life style, a person with poor diet and little to no exercise could benefit from more frequent colonics, in general a colonic 2-4 times per year is recommended.
How will I feel after the colonic?
After your treatment you may feel light, more energized, sleep better and experience less back ache. Many of your symptoms may be reduced or gone all together. Your bowel movements may be lighter and more frequent. you may be surprised at the benefits you will experience after having regular colonic treatments.
