While it seems that the unlucky person with the most serious condition will get ridiculed, the truth is that almost everyone will have to deal with acne in one form or another, at one point in their life. Of course, this can hardly be used to console a teenager with a serious breakout, but the fact is that most people will likely get a pimple or two while they are still a teenager. While it seems that acne is particularly fond of teenagers, acne is not as picky as it seems. Sometimes, even babies, pregnant women and even senior people can be hit by acne. It is said that about forty percent of the people will have a case that is serious enough to require some form of medical attention. The purpose of doing so is to control the condition so that it will not get worse. Also, by controlling the condition, the chances of scarring will be reduced. A point to note is that by seeking medical assistance, it does not necessary mean that the acne will be get rid of entirely. However, it does help in controlling and lessening the effects. As mentioned above, acne tends to strike teenagers, usually at the beginning of puberty. This usually happens at the young age of 13 and can last for up to 10 years and sometimes more. Usually, the condition will take care by itself when a person reaches early twenties but it may persist for some people. Generally, both men and women are equally likely to be affected but the more severe case seems to be more common among young men. Although it is hard to pin point exactly what causes acne, there seem to be some strong evidence that hormonal changes is the culprit for many of the cases. Nobody likes to deal with acne and everyone would like to get rid of acne as soon a possible. For some, it can take up to 10 years before they gain any victory against acne. This 10 years can seemed like a lifetime for some people. If you have been plagued by acnes for quite some time and is starting to get frustrated, there may be a tendency for you to take drastic measures like popping and smashing pimples. Try not to do that as that can worsen the situation and may even result in scarring. The good news is miracles do occur sometimes. There are always people with severe conditions who do eventually get rid of their acne completely.
