Just as there are myths about anything, it comes to no surprise that there are myths about acne. It is better to be informed about the reality of what causes acne and what you can really do to prevent acne formation, instead of listen to misconstrued rubbish. Here are some good acne prevention myths that will hopefully open your eyes to the reality of the situation. Firstly, eating an excess of fried foods has been thought to contribute to acne skin breakouts, but there has strictly been no proper clinical trials to prove this. Eating fried foods once in a while is not going to increase your chances, or worsen your acne breakouts. In fact it is a good idea not to eat too much fried or fatty foods in the first place, it is plain not good for you anyway! Rather than trying not to eat fried foods, focus of eating healthier food throughout the day and then eventually you will see the benefits shine through to your skin! The chocolate myth is again similar to the fried food myth, that is, eating too much of it will worsen your acne outbreaks. But again, there is not any scientific evidence that suggests this. Perhaps the implication is that if your diet incorporates a lot of junk foods, your skin will not be in the best shape possible. But in moderation, chocolate will not increase your chances or worsen any future flare ups, remember to eat healthily, that is the key. Another myth is that popping pimples will prevent further acne formation. But in fact the process of popping or bursting a pimple is more detrimental that it sounds. Popping a pimple will aggravate your skin texture and increase the likelihood of getting it infected if blood or pus is released from the comedo (the immature acne). So now you may understand why that after popping pimples, you notice that they do not go away as quickly as you would expect them to- and a lot of the time, they seem to hang around even longer. The best approach is to use topical solutions to eradicate pimples, without applying any physical pressure. Do not get me wrong, the best way to prevent acne is using the right combination of defenses, be it the right combination of topical solutions and maybe drug medication. But the point I am trying to put forward in this article, is that your overall health and diet do not have to be at any extreme to prevent acne, just make sure you have a good mixed diet and exercise regularly.
